Oh wow! Didn't know the connection between Grumman and Hawkeye! Oh jeeez that bit about Knox is tragic! :(

2020-02-19 22:04:51 +0000 UTCThere is a lot of romantic tension between Mustang and Hawkeye. We've seen a lot of tiny hints at it - the reference to Mustang calling her his queen, her willingness to follow him anywhere (including into hell), the fact that they are very old friends since he was her father's student, and when he saved her from Gluttony and she thanked him for saving her. He told her to save it for later and she just had a tiny smile on her face. Another interesting connection between them (although it doesn't really play into the anime and it's not a spoiler) is that General Grumman, Mustang's old commanding officer who he played chess with, is Hawkeye's maternal grandfather. I think the reason Knox's wife left him and took their son is because in the manga there's a reference that after he came back from the war, he had nightmares about what he'd done and one night he attacked his wife when he mistook her for an enemy soldier after she tried to wake him. Next week is the halfway point - strap in, because it's only going to get better and more intense from here!
