The Expanse 4x10 Cibola Burn Early Reaction!

Comments

:\ yeaaah pretty sure

I'm holding on to a sliver of hope that part of Ashford's transmission was to his ship to pick him up and recessitate him. Who knows with future medical procedures? Put im in a vat of regrowth gel or something. Nah I'm pretty sure that was it for him.

:) Looking forward to it!

Really enjoyed the ride. Looking forward to S5. I'm sure it has been mentioned before but the Expanse is written as trilogies and the show has 3 acts if it continues to the end. This seaon was just the setup for the the second act where all the storylines should eventually come together in an epic collision. ;-)

Yeah all these comments are making me want to go back and rewatch the series! Shame I don't have much free time :(

Ooof that was like 8-9 months ago so I had forgotten a lot of it! THanks for the reminder though. Really cool that the fight was one continuous shot. Those are the best!

I'm going to miss this show too! Mostly replaced it with Westworld and bringing My Hero Academia back. If I want to do more, I think I'll need to hire more editors. Good ones are hard to find!

Oh yes, the planet structures were all there but buried underneath 1.5 billion years of dirt! All washed away by the tsunami wave. At least that is how I understood it. Elvi had a discussion about how deep the structures go earlier in the season but no one could see them. I agree perhaps the structures could have been scanned but...what a cool shot at the end anyhow seeing an ancient dead city!

The actor David Strathairn had signed on for two seasons (I hear) and boy did he make his mark! He couldn't shoot Marcos in front of Naomi's son and I have to give him props for that. He went out like a boss. His character was completely different in the books. I also loved him so much it took me weeks and weeks to watch the last episode (because I had been spoiled, oh well). It has been a wonderful journey with you Eric. Your heart is in the exact right place! Looking forward to the next season with you also, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Remember the surface of the planet was scoured by a collosal tsnami. It is my thought that basically this whole planet was geo-engineered, i think as some sort of power station. The islands being reactors, with literally oceans as cooling ponds, the funky moons, the unnatural amount of lithium etc. Regrowth gel, remember S1E01, when that lad loses his.arm, they talk about the inners and the 'their magic gel' The favour isn't for the protomolecule, Remember when Naomi first left to go find 'Lionel', she said one day she'd ask him to find someone for her no questions asked. As far as Ashford.... I knew his fate was sealed when they showed that video of him with his little baby As far as the ending.... I've been awaiting that cliffhanger since Avarsarala was laying on the roof with her grandson, talking about how she hated people that threw rocks. As far as Marcos' Planning. In the books it talks about his strategic thinking, Basically one of escalating outcomes. Having a big master plan, but that every step towards that goal being a victory in and of itself. If his big asteroid plan doesn't work, he has still had a big strike against Mars, and even the Sourjourner was a victory in and of itself. Ps. like everything in the series... the details are often very important. Its worth revisiting Bobby looking at her terminal at the end.

I'm gonna miss watching these every Saturday morning (until season 5 anyways)! I loved how cinematic this season was. It almost felt like 1 long movie, and the wide aspect ratio on Ilus definitely added to that feel. You're right that it didn't necessarily have that mind-blowing moment like seasons 2 and 3, but it did feel like the most cohesive season as a whole. Will you be replacing this spot with a new show in the near future?

Regrowth gel was first mentioned in S1E1 when the ice-miner aboard the Canterbury lost his arm. The tsunami uncovered the "city" in the planet's surface. Remember in S1 when Chrisjen told her grandson she was afraid of men who threw rocks? You might also want to look back at S1E6 when Uncle Mateo prepares to put Diogo on the drift, and listen to the broadcast plaing in the background (around 21:00 in the video. Things have come full circle. Did you notice the "fight scene" with Bobbie on Mars was essentially one continuous shot. Apparently this is one of the most ambitious fight scenes they have shot on the series.
