It is my thought that basically this whole planet was geo-engineered, i think as some sort of power station. Poor Nancy, on her first day in office as Secretary General she will have to watch the sky falling down. (I don't know what will happen, haven't read past the 4th book, and Marco even doesn't appear in it.)
