That's interesting, as an agnostic atheist myself, my hypothesis was that maybe someone who is religious would see MiB's actions as acceptable, because the hosts weren't created by God and therefore don't have a soul. I never thought about how someone who is religious might view MiB's soul! I love that a TV show can spur conversations like this.

I think in a previous commentary I said that I definitely couldn't do what MiB did but unsure just how evil those acts are knowing that these beings are non sentient. But with the added context of MiB trying to help the hosts gain sentience, every bit of pain he incurred upon them would eventually be remembered and suffered in a similar way, I do see him as a villain. Interesting point about religion and belief in a human soul. Would that mean doing things to beings without a human soul is okay, or would it mean that regardless of what you're acting on, committing these violent acts tarnishes your own human soul? I'm agnostic so I'm not entirely sure XD

Yeah, I've noticed I have a fondness for things even if the general consensus is that they're not as good as old previous iterations/seasons, so I should still be very entertained unless it REALLY goes to heck. Examples: Liked Korra more than The Last Airbender, I liked the TV show Castle until the end when a lot of people bailed after season 6 or 7, I like all the more recent Final Fantasys even though 13, its sequels, and 15 were controversial :P

I actually liked season two. I know a lot of people didn’t, but the finale is so fantastic, I didn’t care. I haven’t seen three yet - I’m kind of just waiting and going along with you. But don’t let internet dourness color things for you. Season two has ample great moments.

Also I'm curious what your opinion is on the morality questions this show raises. It's one of the most fascinating shows to see people react to because some people are very sympathetic to the hosts and view them as beings deserving of respect (especially the sentient ones), whereas others don't connect with the hosts at all, and don't even see the MiB as a villain. Some people view the park as no different than playing GTA. I wonder if it correlates with a person's real life religious beliefs, specifically the belief (or lack thereof) in a human soul. It's definitely something the show continues to explore and it's one of the major draws for me.

Once again a fantastic reaction! There is a bit of an internet hate bandwagon for the next 2 seasons, but like most internet hate, it's wildly overblown and mostly unwarranted. It's true season 1 set a ridiculously high bar that probably can't be beat (by any show), but I absolutely love all 3 seasons and hope you will too!

Remember The MIB gave Teddy the first shot back at the beginning of the series :) The Logo on the wall in the Japanese world was SW... so draw your conclusions from that
