Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood 52- Combined Strength Early Reaction!

Comments

Oh I forgot to mention that my recording software crashed early last episode so I saw the opening already :(

Kimblee's death felt a little anticlimactic but in real life things don't always work out for the most poetic death or anything xD And Heinkel's kill was really cool. Definitely enjoyed Alex jumping in and saving Olivier!

That was a rollercoaster of an episode and same with you reaction too, just great. BTW, sorry if I missed this before, but are you not watching the intro yet and just listening to it or have you already watched the intro before somewhere else?

Rogue Agent

Kimblee's fate was pretty gruesome, it's true. In a way, it's satisfying. Almost all of the deaths in this show of major characters (Kimblee, the homunculi) etc, have been very ironic so far. Lust being destroyed by Mustang after she thought she took him out, Gluttony being eaten by Pride, Kimblee being killed by one of the chimeras who used to work for him. I personally think the reason they didn't have Kimblee killed by Scar or another Ishvalen was because it was too predictable, and they do love to throw unexpected twists into this show. There are so many storylines going on right now and that's one of the beautiful things about this show. The creator of the series did a fantastic job of balancing characters and making everything feel important, and the animators carried that balance over when they brought this one to the screen. I love how, despite the fact that Olivier has been nothing but cold to him in this series since we met her, Alex still loves her because she's his sister and he jumps in to help her without hesitation. I think she's starting to see a different side of him too - not a coward and a deserter, but someone who stood up to evil in the only way he knew how - by refusing to slaughter innocents. I don't think her perception of him would have changed if it hadn't been for her meeting Ed and Al and learning the truth about the military actions in Ishval, since she is so devoted to the military.
