apologies in advance for the long comment. i looove this episode so it's hard not to just share every thought i have about it lol. but please dont feel any pressure to respond or anything!
keep in mind that color palettes aren’t hereditary. they may sometimes symbolize a connection between characters but not always. im also not sure how exactly genetics work in remnant but it’s not exactly like reality’s recessive and dominant traits. hell, i think neptune’s hair is naturally that blue color so there may just be something weird in the water the people of remnant are drinking lmao.
my main man qrow has finally arrived! he’s pretty much my top favorite rwby character and i love his relationship with ruby. that reunion moment between them is too fuckin cute (and dont worry, ruby knows he’s just messing around when he says he didnt miss her). and i have no idea why his name is spelled with a q.
yea, winter certainly has an interesting way of showing that she cares, but i think she /does/ care about weiss so that’s nice at least... as for the fight between her and qrow, i would agree that qrow had the upper hand. winter is definitely a badass but i think qrow is generally stronger as a fighter and he totally wasn’t trying his best for their skirmish. there’s a web series where some of the cast play a rwby themed game of d&d (RWBY: The Grimm Campaign) and it was confirmed that qrow’s prowess as a legendary huntsman is widely known, to the point that he’s even kind of seen as a celebrity. obviously the two of them /really/ don’t get along and some people insist there must be a romantic past between them but i highly doubt it. i dont think they went to school together either as qrow is significantly older than winter with him being estimated at around 36-40 and winter being in her mid 20s. i think their conflict most likely has a lot more to do with basic fundamental philosophical beliefs and semi conflicting loyalties. i’d say qrow probably falls somewhere between chaotic good and neutral good while winter would be somewhere around lawful neutral/lawful good. qrow seems not to particularly care for atlas authority and clearly winter’s defensive of her job as well as ironwood as her boss. whereas from this chapter alone you can see that qrow is very loyal to ozpin and almost even protective when he’s giving ironwood shit for betraying him so with oz and ironwood a bit at odds that would add to the tension. that being said, qrow may certainly be a bit of a little shit and not a fan of winter or the atlas military in general, but he wasn’t trying to get rid of winter just to be a dick. she’s not really a part of the inner circle like glynda, ironwood, and he are and therefore shouldn’t be around for discussing certain details.
both oz and glynda definitely tried to make the same points qrow was to ironwood (glynda accusing him of treating everything “like a contest of measuring d-” is still my favorite thing), i’m honestly not sure why it seemed to have more of an effect coming from him. maybe ironwood just needed it to be said aggressively and two inches from his face lol?
idk if you watch any blind wave videos but their rwby reactions are dope and i like their discussion about ironwood’s army in their reaction to this chapter. my favorite part being this:
Aaron: It’d be like here in Marietta if all of a sudden like tanks and the army were around the city. Do I feel safe?
Eric: It’s like “Why are you guys here?” “Shut up. Feel safe.”
