One of the mysteries that has now been mentioned two or three times is Caleb’s suicide (or what he thinks was his suicide). In one of the first episodes, he asks a gunman, “What are you going to do, shoot me in the head? I’ve already done that once.” And in this episode, we get another throwaway line, “I’ve already swallowed a gun for this country.” Blend it with his predicted suicidal fate at the pier, something is going on with that. Did he already attempt it and was somehow repaired? Is it a scrambled memory? Liam seems to have known who he “really is” once he put in the glasses. It follows that Delores must as well then. When she knew is up in the air, as you said. Is he the brother with altered DNA? I agree with you that this season is a socioeconomic parable. My first job out of college was in social work, and there are a lot of barriers and systems set in place that ultimately control and suppress people into a narrow band of mobility. Even programs intended to improve lives often end up putting a predictable control over them based on a human’s core drives “food, shelter, etc.” This season is going full I, Robot. Really good commentary, though. You hit on a lot of themes I experienced as a case worker. It’s a very complicated topic, but your deep read was really well done.

Your post-episode analysis is always good, but this one was especially on-point. A lot of people reduced this season's social commentary down to "Technology bad," but you accurately pointed out how the AI in this season is just an extreme example of what is already going on in our world, with powerful people making decisions for (and to the detriment of) the lower classes, often without people even being aware of it.
