2021-08-10 03:35:01 +0000 UTCyeah, corporations don't want to solve unemployment problems because they need an impoverished unemployed class. it drives down wages because there's a constant supply of labour; it acts as a threat to the employed: don't get out of line, or we can replace you and you'll end up like them; and it's a way to mitigate the damage from strikes: the more desperate and numerous the unemployed are, the easier it is to find people to cross the picket line and replace striking workers. there is no capitalist solution to unemployment, because unemployment only benefits capitalists.
