Didn't like that ending at all. This movie was pretty boring ngl, I like the first one at least in the first one I didn't have to turn my screen brightness up to 100 just to see what the heck was going on.

2021-05-07 15:51:26 +0000 UTCYour assumption that Johanna has a bigger role in the book is correct. *Slight book spoilers ahead* In the book, Johanna and Katniss are both granted permission by Coin to fight on the front, but must go through D13 bootcamp first. This involves situations of high stress specific to each and Johanna has a severe PTSD episode and ends up hospitalized and stays behind. Having Katniss instead "sneak" off has always seemed strange to me as it goes against the movies own logic; that Coin would prefer if Katniss dies as a marty; her entire motivation to send them Peta(who in the book only came as a replacement for an injured squad member). It also(imo) has a grimmer ending and acknowledges the surviving victors lifelong battle with the trauma they went through. But overall the movies are pretty good adaptations and do break away from many of the YA tropes.
