Implicit Bias in Zootopia- Early Reaction!

Implicit Bias in Zootopia- Early Reaction!

Comments

This movie is so interesting, and really rings true I think for a lot of families. My dad, for example, is actually pretty pro BLM, and anti police brutality. But I was surprised when I learned some hidden prejudices he might have. Some of that was based on his own experiences. Where he could see the other side, but it still wasn't a great experience for him. Like mainly being excluded for being white. And he grew up poor, but white poor people weren't talked about as much, back then. In general, from what I could tell. So I think he had a hard time, at first, sensing his own white privilege's. He does now, but it took a while to get there-especially through a few conversations we had. He did grow up in the 50s, and 60s, so he was more understanding that that was not a great time for black people, and POC, ect. But he was the first person I was aware that could still have "implicit bias" but still be a good person at heart. And I even had to check myself, a few times, for my own implicit bias/privilege's. Like not being afraid that the cops would see me as a threat because I'm a white female. ect

Chelle

Might not do that, but actually very curious about the upcoming Zootopia+ TV show

Love this movie and these two. If you're down for a more dramatic version of this world I'd recommend the show Beastars. But no worries if you're not :)

Huh! Interesting

For the 'United States being the most diverse country in the world' fact-check: going by the Fearon list, which is a measure of cultural diversity in different countries, it is the 85th. Most of the higher-ranking countries are in Africa.
