I live in Poland and you gotta follow Lukashenko here considering he’s currently trying to start a border conflict with us. We’re in a state of war emergency right now :’) I’m glad John Oliver decided to cover the topic. The scary thing about Lukashenka is that while most Belarusians oppose him, some don’t. My coworker is a Belarusian girl who came to Poland for university and while she won’t say, we all suspect her father is in the party. Her comments about Lukashenka are sometimes kinda chilling. I mean… remember that hijacking of the plane, where the journalist (and his girlfriend) were and still are detained and tortured? Her response to that was “well they shouldn’t have flown over Belarusia”. That’s just yikes. And another scary thing is that Poland is currently trying to follow Belarusia into authoritarianism, too…
