If we ignore the fact that Harvey Dent gets his face disfigured in a completely different way in The Dark Knight, the fact that in Joker's continuity Bruce Wayne is much younger than Harvey Dent (he's a kid in the first Joker), and the fact that Joker's continuity takes place in the 1980s and The Dark Knight's in the 2000s...

So I really enjoyed this movie and would of probably given it a 9/10 if not for 3 reasons. 1. The musical number are a little too much at times and are kind of distracting at moments but I really like most of them 2. The ending, now everything that happens in reality is fine, but the fantasy where Arthur sings about wanting a son to take his place is the issue for me, essentially the scene is saying Artur wants someone to take up the Joker persona after he dies alluding to the guy that stabbed him. But Arthur renounced Joker and regrets doing all the bad things he had done, so why would he want to continue that legacy? 3. Last and worst of all, the scene where it's implied that Arthur is *aped. I hate this scene not because of the subject matter itself, but because it's implied to be the main reason as to why Arthur renounces Joker. To me the main over all message of the film is just because bad things happen to you, that doesn't excuse you doing bad things back into the world, like what happened to Gary. But instead of having Arthur really reflect on his actions, they just hurt him into submission witch just seems like a really messed up message and antithetical to the actual message. But that's just my long opinion and I'd give the movie a 7.5/10, also my dad really liked the joke "Mom, why do you stay with your abusive boyfriend? Beats the hell out of me!"

That makes sense. There is a theory that this movie leads into the dark knight. With Harvey dent becoming two face.

No it wasn’t, that wouldn’t make sense with this timeline. I think it symbolical, at the end of the first film Arthur uses his blood to paint a smile (but it’s only surface level) while at the end of this movie the real joker/ Arthur’s shadow cuts a smile making it skin deep. Because for Arthur it was just an act but for the real joker, it’s his life.

That was heath ledger at the end. And was carving a smile on his face like Joker
