About the OST: If I recall correctly, Klaus Badelt, the composer for the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, was a pupil of Hans Zimmer, and I think Zimmer even had a pretty big input in the composition of the music. Then Zimmer went on to compose for the rest of the franchise (except the last movie). Also, Zimmer often reuses similar leitmotivs for his compositions. Some tracks in the OST for The Road to El Dorado (which came out in the same year as Gladiator) are also very reminiscent of the music in Pirates of the Caribbean.
