You should watch the first episode of a few shows to see which one you like?

Ethan Gardner

Now that you're done with Futurama too I'd love to see you react to The Simpsons, but of course I get why you wouldn't do it (it has nearly 800 episodes and going, and if you decided to watch only the "good seasons" it'd be hard to choose when to stop and there would be people complaining no matter what you decided).

Miru

Stewie is basically a very intelligent taking baby. And the family has a talking dog. It’s really funny.

Ethan Gardner

I don't think I actually know anyone who has paid for a sex worker, and the people I know who've done sex work screened beforehand and managed to avoid bad clients. Definitely expect some people would look to exploit sex workers knowing that they can't go to the police. But I think there are a lot of fine reasons to hire sex workers too. Loneliness due to being too busy, too unattractive, or being homebound, having a specific kink, etc.

I've seen a clip here or there. Is the little kid named Stuart? Saw him asking for mom like a bajillion times on loop lol

Eric Reacts

Yeah, I get the sentiment of some anti-sex work people about how horrible it is that someone has to resort to it out of a desperate situation, but: 1. I think it's better that someone in a desperate situation can at least have the chance to choose to do sex work, rather than having no chances at all. 2. There are a lot of jobs that people wouldn't do if not out of necessity, and probably some of them are more demeaning or disgusting than sex work. So I tend to think that people who are against sex work specifically feel that way because of some sort of puritanism, even if they aren't aware of it. I'm still not sure about how to feel about people who pay for sex though. I guess there are a lot of different reasons why someone could do it and probably some of them are more justifiable than others.

Miru

Have you watched family guy before? You should try it.

Ethan Gardner

Anti-sex work sentiment winds up hurting sex workers anyway. Because it's illegal everywhere but Nevada, sex workers can't come forward if they're abused or assaulted on the job without incriminating themselves. And the more we make their clients fear the law, the less work they get. I'm much more concerned with better economic conditions for everyone so that the decision to do sex work is never made under economic distress.

Eric Reacts

Yeah, the leftist position in my experience is usually pro-sex workers but anti-sex work. Like, I don't think many leftists would say there'd be nothing wrong with Leonard and Sheldon hiring a prostitute, but they wouldn't place any blame on her.

Miru

"She blinded me with Science!" That song actually fits perfectly for the show haha

Molly Moon

I'm neutral about sex work but pro-sex workers. The government's insistence on conflating sex work with with sex trafficking hurts everyone involved and makes sex worker's jobs way harder and more dangerous. SESTA FOSTA was meant to crack down on sex trafficking but experts on the subject said it did next to nothing to combat sex trafficking but resulted in much more dangerous situations for sex workers. Even if I disliked sex work, it's the world's oldest profession for a reason and no matter how puritanical and forceful a society is in combating it, they're unable to put a stop to it. If that's the case, the goal shouldn't be to continually punish and vilify sex workers, especially when many of them are already extremely marginalized by society. Fwiw, I was pro-sex worker before my friends told me they had done sex work. I also wouldn't consider anyone who is anti-sex worker to be a leftist.

Unsure. People are also asking for Young Sheldon as well but I'm still contemplating

Eric Reacts

The Sheldon in this pilot is very different from the one in the show, but the Sheldon in the actual pilot was somewhat of a middle ground, because he at least showed some glimpses of being interested in sex there. Also, I feel like Gilda was reworked into Leslie Winkle. They obviously have differences but they seem to fill a similar role as a potential nerdy competition for Leonard's affection. Off-topic: I find it interesting that you seem to be very pro-sex work, which is not something very frequent for left-wing people, and it's one of the topics I'm personally more doubtful about my stance towards it. Also I seem to recall you've had close relationships with sex workers, which I guess gives you a completely different insight into the subject. If you ever jump into doing video essays this is one of the topics I'd be more interested to see you talk about.

Miru

What are you going to watch after you finish big bang theory? SpongeBob, or family guy?

Ethan Gardner

I understand that they decided to change because the initial test audience were protective of leonard and sheldon and didn't like the way they were treated.

Charles Keyman

Such a depressing episode to witness, lmao

Michael Peña

I'm surprised you didn't mention that Raj and Howard wasn't in it

PumpkinPanic

I have seen the pilot before, and it is very weird. Kaley was told to play more cute, and clueless, and it worked for Penny's character. Along with that, but as fans have said they doubted Leonard would have fallen in love with Katey the same way he fell for Penny
