Just in case you don't know, Gravity Falls is pretty short too (it's actually slightly shorter than The Owl House). But I think it's a good idea to watch some other things in between, just to change the tone for a while.

22:45 - That's Raine's earring that Collector stepped on. Later on in the epilogue, Eda wears an earring very similar to that one and Raine is wearing ones which resemble hers. Curiously, Camila's earrings in the epilogue resemble a combination of both of theirs. This has led shippers to a great many headcanons about their implied relationships. XD 27:14 - That's Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson as the Titan! 29:55 - The bookending! S1E2 (Witches Before Wizards): "If we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special, we'd die waiting. And that's why you need to choose yourself." 32:40 - Belos's fungal/skin growth is titan in origin, so it counteracts the Collector's powers. 35:30 - The little twirl and giggle Luz does makes me just sob. 47:55 - Luz saying she had learned the Titan's language makes me think of her video diary entry in Thanks to Them where young Luz says she can speak Witchtongue in five different dialects. A number of episodes (including this one) emphasize Luz being an artist and writer, but it sounds like she might be a bit of a linguist too, even aside from being bilingual. One of the requirements for not being put in "the baby class" given back in Adventures in the Elements is having knowledge of "basic runes," so it's even implied that Luz learned yet another language to be able to read and write! (More on this at the end...) 48:18 - A storyboard scene from S3E2 (For the Future) that was cut out of the final version for time showed Luz conjuring a blast of energy with her staff, with the final version featuring the blast and only implying that Luz was the one who shot it, so it does seem that Stringbean can help her wield some magic! Further backed up by her saying that she and Stringbean "figured out their own way of doing things." In every pitch of the show, Luz was never going to learn how to wield magic the way a witch can, but always finds some unusual way of doing it. I love that this has been a consistent theme throughout the series - being different, but not inferior. 48:40 - Writing scholarship signed by Dana Terrace... 50:03 - Hunter's new palisman is named Waffle! 50:30 - YUP BAWLING AGAIN. The grave kills me every single time. 51:11 - Barcus's student poking out of the window is the witchsona of Rebecca "Rose" Bozza, who had been doing video essays and reactions to The Owl House's first season when she got swept up to work in production for the rest of the series! And meanwhile, the beast/oracle student entering Hexside here is based on Dana Terrace herself. Dana had no idea about the cameo and only found out when she saw the finished episode. 51:25 - The person receiving sigil removal is the first person we ever see given a sigil, back in Covention! 52:05 - Amity finally giving her dad that hug that she refused back in Reaching Out... 53:00 - It's a little detail, but I love the two basilisks, previously seen in Vee's flashback back in Tomorrow's Lie, chilling to the side of the door. Despite being predators who can debilitate or even kill witches, they've been taken in by Eda and live peacefully with witches now. Also another small detail, just above the entrance to the Headmaster's quarters is the light glyph. Incidentally, several people are wearing patches on their clothing resembling a titan skull and Eda has one on her headmaster stole, making me suspect that the people with the patch work in the new university, but are cooperating with Hexside. Just a neat little nugget of worldbuilding. I love the little glimpses we get of life afterward, like the scaffolding and houses built around the upraised titan arm. 53:30 - It is forever going to drive me nuts that Willow's expression subtly changes when Amity goes to hug Luz. That expression shows up a couple of times on her when those two interact as far back as Wing it Like Witches. I have a headcanon that Willow had an unrequited crush on Luz and/or Amity, and while she wouldn't take away the relationship those two have (or her own with Hunter), there's still an occasional pang of yearning. It's never really confirmed in the show, but the crew have said that Willow is pansexual. (Hunter is bisexual, similarly.) A last little tidbit about "BYEEE~" - Hunter and Eda both using it repeatedly is actually a subtle nod to the fact that Hunter, as a clone of Caleb Wittebane, is quasi-related to Eda! The exact nature of their familial relationship is complicated when considering how the grimwalker recipe might work, but the Hollow Mind artwork seems to indicate that Evelyn was pregnant when Caleb was killed by Philip and that she survived the encounter. It's not a stretch to say that Hunter is, in a way, one of Eda's ancestors. As for the earlier mentioned runes, there are actually several secret messages hidden throughout seasons 1 and 2 written phonetically in runic script! Most of them are titles to various things (a book title in Understanding Willow providing a major clue, "THE TITAN AND HIS SPAWN"), but each episode also has a secret word which forms a pair of phrases across the season arc: Season 1: "TWO WITCHES TORN APART NOW ALONE / TWO HEARTS OF STONE / A CURSE OF FEATHERS AND MUD / A BETRAYAL OF BLOOD" Season 2: "SEETHING SEAS AND PUPPET STRINGS / HE NO LONGER DREAMS OF KINGS / AS ABOVE RUSH DARKENED SKIES / AS BELOW HIS FATHER LIES" In addition, the first letter of each the episode titles in seasons 1 and 2 forms another secret message: Season 1: "A WITCH LOSES A TRUE WAY" Season 2: "SEEK THE KEY FEAR THE LOCK" Season 3 didn't have the episode capacity to hide as much, but as the previous comment indicated, the first word of each episode spells out "THANKS FOR WATCHING". Curiously, while I originally thought these must have been Alex Hirsch's influence since Gravity Falls apparently has lots of secrets as well, I later discovered that Dana Terrace's artbook includes several bits of very similar script. I wasn't able to translate anything in them however. ... yeah, oof. I bawl every single time I watch this. This show was literally life-changing for me. I had visited a friend shortly after the finale and they sat me down to binge the entire series over two days. A year later, after finding Moringmark's TOH comics and a number of reactors whose passion for the series resonated with mine, I started writing fanfiction for the first time since 2003. I'm sanmeikitten on AO3, if folks are interested in giving my work a read. Your Touch is my main fic. The premise is that an altered timeline causes Luz to enter the Boiling Isles two years later after having been homeless for many years. She arrives after the events of canon, and while the Day of Unity doesn't seem to have taken place, the Emperor's Coven has nearly conquered the Isles. Traumatized by her time on the streets, she finds some peace and healing with Eda and eventually begins to spread her message of hope and acceptance to others as well, gradually becoming entangled in the greater plot of the Emperor's subjugation of the island. I'm also in the process of writing a much more humorous fic called Six Tropes Walk into a Coffeehouse, which is a modern human AU that plays a bunch of silly tropes straight: Luz, coffee barista and professional dumbass, has made a deal with her bitter enemy Amity Blight. If she pretends to be Amity's date at a family dinner, she'll get everything she ever wanted. There's only one problem — following an accident, Luz has amnesia and no longer remembers anything about the deal or Amity herself!
