Placing limits on students based on your preconception of them is really sad :( Sorry you had to deal with that!

Everything else I just failed or barely passed. It's funny because when I was in third grade our teacher took us to the library to pick out books, and I remember I choose this big chapter book and we had to show her what books we picked out and she told me, "This book is too advance for you." And I had to put it back. It made me feel so small and stupid, I think back and if I were the adult in that situation and I had a student, maybe she wasn't as fast as the other kids but she picked out a book that she thought looked interesting, I would encourage her to read it anyway. But...jokes on her, I had a closet filled to top with books as I got older.
