2022-10-18 21:10:51 +0000 UTCI think john’s point about opposition to trans rights on the left is arguable in the US, but trans rights aren’t a clean cut left/right issue everywhere. Here in the UK, transphobia is the domain of liberal, feminist and socialist intellectuals as much as it is of the stereotypical conservative bigot, perhaps more so. it’s present in and unopposed by the labour party, it’s currently causing a schism in the green party, and is actively spread by progressive media like the guardian. the left wasn’t always like that here, so i guess, keep an eye on your US leftists, it doesn’t take very long for them to start turning against us.
