Sponge is THE classic animated show! I think the first season is the best, then 2 is great and three is ok. I have a million recommendations for animated shows that take what Spongebob did and do so much better. I think Sponge is still amazing as an example of how animated shows could be. one of the first to actually appeal to everyone and not just dumb random kids' nonsense. It's the classic and I will recommend the first-third season to anyone starting their animated kids show journey! This show represents what the great kids' shows do now, a mixture of good plotlines plus great sight gags and awesome characters. I'd say at least finish season two before moving on to shows like Steven Universe or Adventure time. I think this show is much better than shows like Jimmy Neutron or Fairly odd parents. Just because it is vague enough to appeal to everyone. I loved both Fairly and Jimmy as a kid, but they did make me feel isolated as a girl. And they had very strict rules for what could happen in the show. I never felt that way about Sponge!If you're gonna skip sponge, skip Jimmy and Fairly too. Shows like Adventure Time is where you should start.

2023-01-17 22:52:17 +0000 UTCThe show at it's peak is 1-3 that's where the meme come from because it had great writing. season 4 has some episode that are from season 3 that are amazing. thought you'll notice a quality drop in season compared to the other seasons but 4 season is still a good to great season overall. but there are some hidden gems sprinkled throughout the reminding seasons. though personally I'd stop around season 6 and that's been generous. But you'll enjoy seasons 1-4 specially 1-3.

2023-01-14 13:42:32 +0000 UTCWell... If I remember correctly, the movie was originally what Stephen Hillenberg planned to be the finale for spongebob or some semblance of that. It's why after the movie, canonically we never see any of the characters that appeared in the movie (not going to say who to not spoil anything for Eric). Presumably, as most conglomerates do, Nickelodeon wanted to milk the fuck out of spongebob (I would guess merchandise sales were astronomical) and they wanted him to continue so Stephen probably reworked the movie into what we know it as now and they continued the show (mostly for the worst). It definitely dips in quality kind of during but definitely after season 4.

2023-01-13 16:27:50 +0000 UTCThis is 1 of my favorite cartoons from my childhood. I agree that the humor especially the physical comedy is amazing and still stands up today. The stories for the most part are not complex but I still think they are really good. Also the animation is simple but really good in my opinion. If you do decide to react to more of this in the future I would suggest only reacting to the seasons before the 1st movie as well as the movie itself because Nickelodeon continued it longer than it should have against the advice of the original creator. Because from everything I know the longer it’s gone on the worse it’s become. Obviously if you do continue the show feel free to watch as many seasons as you want just thought I would warn you. Also just so you know I believe there is a pilot episode out there somewhere which I think was basically a proof of concept for the show. I was very excited to see this reaction and if you post it on YouTube I would hope it would get a lot of views but I know what YouTube is like. Awesome reaction and discussion & I’m glad you liked it/found it charming please keep up the great work. :-) <3

2023-01-12 23:42:51 +0000 UTCStephen Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob, passed away in 2018. There was a petition going around in 2019 for Sweet Victory, one of the most famous songs from the show, to be played at the Super Bowl that year in tribute to him. Unfortunately it never happened.
