The remake is fantastic. The graphics are just magnificent, and it was a whole new experience playing that version.

2023-03-13 16:41:56 +0000 UTCIs Joel a good or bad person? It's hard to say, really. What he has been doing has been protecting the people closest to him.. Or at least trying. He failed with Sarah. He failed with Tess. He sure as hell wasn't going to fail with Ellie. The motivations for his actions aren't bad, but what he does in order to "fullfil" his role as the protector is committing horrible violent acts. Then again, what was his choice? It was the only way to protect his "new" daughter. I love the moral dilemma here, and there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to a lot of this. These are all just my opinions. Joel had two options: He could choose to save the world for everyone else, but not his own. Or he could choose save HIS world, but no one else's. He chose the latter, and I don't blame him. It's all about perspective. Looking at it from any of the victim's eyes, this would have probably been quite different.

2023-03-13 12:49:08 +0000 UTCI actually haven't finished the remake so I might have to do that. I'm so curious to see how they mirror the 2nd game's story structure in show form!

2023-03-13 12:36:33 +0000 UTCI think the handing over of the photo of Sarah and Joel's reaction to it was just as compelling. Obviously it wasn't set up earlier in the show though. I think what also shook me after I finished the game was realizing I'd probably make the same choice if I was in his shoes.

2023-03-13 12:36:02 +0000 UTCI'm genuinely sad this is over. Might have to play the game now, but I feel like i'm going to miss both Bella and Pedro as Ellie and Joel when playing, even though Ashley and Troy are sensational. Man, i'm looking forward to Season 2, obviously, but it's also a different kind of story. A fantastic adaptation of my favourite narrative game of all time. I wish there was more, and that's my only critique of the show. I've loved every single second.

2023-03-13 12:31:09 +0000 UTCWhat's the thing that's different in the game and you think might be even more compelling? I finished watching the gameplay and I don't know what you're referring to. About Joel's decision, while it's obvious that his love for Ellie is his main driving force and it's beautiful to look at it that way, I think we shouldn't avoid looking at the other side of the coin: Why would Joel want to save humanity at the cost of his own happiness? It's not Cordyceps who killed Sarah, it was a person. Most of the dangers he faces in the TV show come from humans, not from infected (I wonder if one of the reasons they reduced infected presence so much in the show was to support this idea). Hell, in the videogame even Tess dies at the hands of humans. It's easy to think of Joel as a misanthrope after all of that, so if he has to choose between humanity or Ellie, the girl who brought joy back to his life... Well, as the creators said, it was the easiest choice he ever made. The creators also said that the great thing about the ending is that you both understand Joel's choice and know that Ellie wouldn't have wanted it, but I'd say even more: it's not only that you understand Joel's choice, it's that you feel there was no way he would have chosen otherwise.

2023-03-13 10:05:20 +0000 UTCI also took it as that was why she was immune. She was born while her mother was infected, so maybe her body was able to withstand it-that and the truamatic birth could help her "endure and survive" more. Sorry I had to on the last one, lol

2023-03-13 06:03:24 +0000 UTCI love this show so much. The writer in me finds it a fascinating plot. Man loses kid. Man finds new kid to care for. New kid has cure to save the world. I could totally see the whole "screw everyone else" idea of a traumtized man. Especially one who does keep on losing people
