Great reaction and astute observations Eric. It was really entertaining. If you think about it too much, it does become quite creepy thinking about someone else controlling your body. Strictly speaking, everyone gave consent prior to the switching, but there wasn't any 'thinking it through' - it was all very spontaneous without regard to consequences (such as overeating, drugs or alcohol abuse or sexual activity). Of course, this is meant to be light-hearted comedy and it's probably better not to look under the hood too much. Just about any science fiction movie contains elements that could be abused in the wrong hands (invisibility, mind control, advanced weaponry and on and on).

Also, with the exception of the upcoming holiday special, terrible anthology episodes. The new season will be back to the original writing team however, and hopefully will feel more like the original run.

2023-05-31 19:47:47 +0000 UTCThey will be talking about current events in the new season of futurama like vaccines, pandemics, cancel culture, bitcoin and stuff like that but also it will give us some payoffs to episodes from the first 4 seasons. I hope you dont mind when they talk current events, i personally dont mind them and they have been doing it since season 1. Its just the nature of the show so im excited to see how they handle it. The revival will be having new writers as well as alot of the original writers so that could be good to have fresh new ideas. Regarding this season being weaker, i can see that but i also dont think its bad. Sometimes its hard to come back years later and just start doing the same thing. Not every episode will be great but I dont think any episode is bad, just some weaker than others. I hope you dont dislike this season as a whole. Its weird, it has some of the weakest episodes but also some of the strongest episodes in the series. I dont think you will be able to get to season 8 by this year if you plan on sticking to one episode a week. If you need any help with anything i would be happy to help.

Fun fact but the writer for this episode actually created a new theorem specifically for this episode to be able to solve how to switch everyone back into their bodies. Its called "The Futurama Theorem" and its the first time ever a theorem was created for the sole purpose of a tv show.
