For me my top three character development arcs are Howards, Amy's, and Sheldon's. I feel the same way about Sheldon as you do with Howard, in terms of not being a favorite, but understanding that his arc gets really strong.

If he had just read it, and it just said one of those, it would be so easy to blow it off and still be angry, which he does have a right to still be angry, regardless, but with all of them together, it's just so touching. Love love love.
