Sometimes I forget that not all movies are made with me as the target audience XD

i think i mentioned in the little mermaid 1989 post that this was my childhood favorite, so this reboot means a lot to me, so much that i ran to the cinemas and sang along a lot. i definitely agree with both versions being companion pieces and that each has their own strength and weakness, like the cgi being awkward in some parts but them emphasizing on ariel's curiosity of the human world than her romantic love for eric is one of the greatest changes that i think a lot of people may have forgotten in the original version and just kind of misconstrue her as someone who went after a man and gave up everything for him. i do have to say tho, the dislike for the scuttlebutt song is a little overrated because as far as i know, the kids like it and isn't that what matters? anyway, loved this reaction!

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

I loved this version! Itโ€™s honestly up there with Aladdin, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast in terms of overall ranking. Some cgi issues aside, this is a better take than the animation in regards to Arielโ€™s and Ericโ€™s relationship. Plus itโ€™s really beautiful and Halle is amazing and her voice is perfect. And the mermaids look so pretty ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฅฐ

Agree a bit with the pacing!

Interesting. You know, this guy I got into a fight with in the comments of Eric's reaction to the original said he hated that change in the remake. He said that Ariel joining in the singing contradicts her desire to be human or some BS like that.

"How could he think that this would improve things?" regarding Triton destroying Ariel's lair... What I really liked about this scene in the original movie is how there it's clear that Triton DOESN'T think it through and he's acting on blind rage, and he almost immediately regrets it. In the remake he's much more composed so he doesn't convey that at all and I don't think it works as well. A change I did like though was Ariel joining in the singing of Under the Sea, not only because I love Halle's harmonies but also because it shows Ariel doesn't hate the ocean or anything like that, she just wants to see more. And let's be honest, who could resist such a bop? BTW, I kinda expected some reaction to the casting of Daveed Diggs as Sebastian. Did you know about it beforehand? Or you didn't notice during the reaction?

Just finished watching it for the first time, myself, and going to watch your reaction. Would rate the pacing/storyline a 6 out of 10. But the songs a 7 out of 10. I did really enjoy the extra Eric and Ariel scenes, especially in the library, ect. And have to say they are my favorite Disney couple. I don't know why I like them so much, but maybe I find them a bit underrated compared to Cinderella and Prince Charming, ect Edit Okay thinking about it I might be rating it more of a 7, and the songs a 7. 5 I just felt some of the pacing was a bit off, innitially

Yes, agreed that it's a trendy thing to hate that might age better, in some areas. Especially Hallie as Ariel

Looks like a deep fake, a bit uncanny if I'm being honest. Also, the crab is what nightmares are made of. Anyway, the young lady has a nice voice movie was alright. I remember her sister from Madea Meet the Browns. Also, big oof on Awkwafina That Scuttlebutt song is going to be stuck in my head and idk if that's good or bad LMAO. Overall cute movie I see people hating on it but we all know why that is. It's almost getting Twilight Saga levels of hate at this rate its just trendy to hate things that's all I'm going to say.
