2024-03-09 04:53:25 +0000 UTCI'm assuming they had this version of Sokka go through his ice-dodging trials back home because they aged him up from 15 to 16. (I think the actor was 17 when he was cast, and they made Sokka older so he'd look the part?) Maybe 13 was the age that people would have this trial normally, and cartoon Sokka was 12 when Hakoda left, but this Sokka got to do it just before the men left. I also noticed the guys who teased Sokka about the failed trial weren't in the village in the first episode, so maybe the other boys around his age got to join Hakoda and the other men in helping the war, and Sokka was left behind to protect the village. The way I decided to interpret this is that Hakoda saw Sokka wasn't quite ready yet, but he wanted Sokka to have a chance to learn how to be a leader in the relatively safer environment of Wolf Cove. Well hey, it worked out! ...Until Katara insisted on taking a "mysterious little bald person" home XD.
