During the last week I painted Brayan, Matthew, Danielle, and later today, Shayna. What do they all have in common? They're part of my current series, Neon City! They were all magical to work with, but I want to discuss why this series has truly been remarkable in a number of ways.
I invested in a backdrop system. I cannot stress how incredible this improved my quality of life in the studio. Previously I was using a muslin cloth background, which did the job, but was not immune to wrinkles and paint stains. With paper back drops, if I am tired of what's in front of me, I use a different roll. My current rig holds three at a time. At the moment I rotate between Gray, Black, and Red.
My black lights are now LED. This really improved the quality of the lighting and made each art piece POP. I have them mounted on my umbrella stands... with duct tape. I didn't say I was perfect!
For the first time ever, I allowed people to sponsor models. This was something I've considered for awhile, but wasn't sure if it was going to be successful. I was pleasantly surprised!
Purchased a 50mm prime lens. This is a manual only focus, and is used mostly for the portrait shots you see. The lens I use the most is a 35mm at the moment. Both will be used in my upcoming short film!
Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think below. Please enjoy the bonus photo of Brayan!
