Hello dears! Thanks for your support! I've been pouring over photos the last few days from the recent event. Recently I was part of a fantastic body painting show at Phoenix Fan Fusion (formerly Phoenix Comicon). It featured live music, five amazing models, and five unique body artists.
The theme challenged us to combine Day of the Dead and Steampunk! No easy task.
Photography below is by Brandon McGill, Rodrigo, or Mark Greenwalt.

Conventions are pretty overwhelming, and this was the first one for Best! Phoenix Fan Fusion (or Phoenix Comicon as everyone still calls it) has attendance that ranges between 50-100 thousand people. With special guests George Takei and Jeff Goldblum, the crowds were massive!

As soon as we arrived, before the show started, I started on his face right away. I knew that I had a LOT of layers and elements to create in 2.5 hours, and I was competing against airbrushers.

The show began with this basic face! Well. Basic for me. ;-)
We had done some building the last few days, and we were ready to put on a good show. People started to file in, and photos were taken...like the one below!

Best seemed really into it!

The stage was kind of cramped though, so we made the best of it!

The model next to me (Violet Pixie) was super sweet.

Best had a lot glued on him! I had to give him a backrub when we got home. But he was such a trooper, despite the cold room and prosthetic weight.

There was a whole gaggle of us working! Each trying to wow the audience.

A lot of people thought our body painting stole the show though! What do you think?

Violet had some pretty neat wings (albeit a bit basic). They photographed great! In fact, they got the design plan from Crooked Feather (who I've worked with before)!

Best was a hit with photographers who loved his movement on stage and on the runway.

Even better, Miss Krystal loved the art! You can tell she was getting a kick out of this robotic walk on the runway. I wish you could of seen it!

She then performed one of her hits, with the painted models surrounding her in an impromptu music video moment. It was quite fantastic to watch.

The models posed alone at first....

Then we got to pose with our beautiful models, as seen here! It was hard with so many photographers to know which direction to look in.

My favorite part was walking the runway with my boyfriend.

We were so very happy!

We then decided to go home, which wasn't easy as we had to walk home carrying all of our gear. Even though we were tired, and hungry, Best said it would be a good idea to do a photoshoot. You can thank him for this! He loves making good art.

Once we got home, I touched up the makeup...

And photographed this handsome guy.

I love this portrait shot of him.

Well there you have it! You may have missed the show, but you got to see a behind the scenes look at what goes into creating a stage show. I hope you enjoyed the bonus photoshoot afterward as well. It was a long day, but well worth the effort, don't you think?
With Love,
Brandon
