Lightning crashes while an empire burns,
from these ashes, a new life returns,
Plastic wastelands release toxic fumes,
from outer space, we watch it consume,
Withered armies fight tanks and bombs,
this future was predicted without palms,
Tragedy tattooed onto this earth,
A scar that began upon his birth,
The shameful spectacle on TV,
was just bitter tasting entropy,
The rise and fall of dishonest kings,
you cannot fly with broken wings,
in a battle where nobody has won,
our celebration has come undone,
searching faces for what we've become,
maybe we're just comfortably numb.
