Before the Storm
Added 2019-08-26 06:52:08 +0000 UTCHello. In case you haven't seen the news, I'm preparing to release the game's Final Endings in the next update, v0.42. To clarify, this doesn't mean development will be over, but rather that you will finally be able to get some closure on the main, overarching storyline.
However, this content has been... especially challenging to me, in several ways. Normally I would have posted the pre-release MMU yesterday, which would typically mark the two-week mark until the public release. I was not able to hit my goal on that, and I've been burned out the last few days.
So I felt like I should check in and let you guys know what's going on. It looks like v0.42 is going to be delayed somewhat from the usual schedule. I technically have the release slated as "Sometime in September," but traditionally it's been the first weekend. I still fully intend to get the MMU out within August, as it wouldn't be the "Monthly" Mini-Update otherwise, but I'm not yet sure when it will be going up.
At this point, I'm debating using an approach similar to previous updates, where it's only available "for certain routes" until the next update. That would be really disappointing to me, since it might mean you'd get the Final Ending experience going down a path that's not what you yourself would choose. It depends on how much more I can manage to write in time.
I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, and to disappoint myself. I've been keeping a regular (if slow) schedule for years now, and it's been a point of pride for me. The fact that it's one of the most important and difficult updates the game will ever get is something of a consolation, but this does mean it'll be eating into the time for v0.43 after it, so I'll be kicking myself down the line as well.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I'm sorry I can't give you the closure you're likely wishing for yet. I just hope that it will all be worth it, in the end.

I'm really glad that everyone has enjoyed MVOL, but I'm very ready to start exploring other types of games with other themes. Right now my tentative plan is to start prototyping a few different games to explore different styles of gameplay and different themes, but I'll get more into all that and why in an announcement sometime in the next few months I think. Either way, as I've said, there'll still be plenty more to add to MVOL after the Final Endings before it's complete.

2019-09-02 20:48:36 +0000 UTCThank you for your kind words, everyone! One of my favorite parts of developing this game has been what a sweet and supportive player base I've accumulated. I deeply appreciate your support and understanding!

2019-09-02 20:42:36 +0000 UTCHuh, it's been a long time, heh. I've some of the old versions, v10 and such. So, what are plans for MVOL 2? I suggest "Housework simulator with Lith" as a working theme.
2019-09-02 14:51:31 +0000 UTCGet it done on your own timetable, it'll just mean better content that the consumer will enjoy more, and content that you will be more proud of. It's called a mini update because it's a miniature update, it doesn't have to have all the content that would be necessary, that's why it's called a mini update. Don't push yourself.

2019-08-26 13:50:25 +0000 UTC+1 on the whole "take your time" thing. You've mentioned that this part had been particularly difficult, yet you keep pushing through it. That in and of itself says something. I say good on you for pushing through the difficult times without lowering your standards just to get it over with or meet a deadline. Plus it's your story. The first person you need to please is you. We've been with you this long. We can wait for a release that you're satisfied with.

2019-08-26 09:36:46 +0000 UTCI agree with them, take your time, we would rather have you take your time and be happy with what you made then rush and be disappointed with what you made. Your storytelling is amazing and it shouldn't be forced or rushed more than what you need it to be.

2019-08-26 08:26:48 +0000 UTCI agree. You have been a wonderful developer for this since the beginning. You have always given us the best possiable content with very update. And if this is truly the end of the story then we as your loyal and loving fans should have zero issue if you need more time to fully complete it. No need to rush. You've been great to us this whole time. We can wait until YOU are ready.
