Yes, Valentine is telling the truth about how Jocelyn feels about Jonathan. Yes she was trying to kill him. Clave can track Shadowhunters thru runes...unless the are blocked...Jace has no Stele or weapons...so no blocking. Valentine was setting Jace up to show him all downworlders are bad. You are pretty spot on. As of episode 4 new writers :). Oh...and in the start of the episode....all those people were killed by Valentine trying to make new Shadowhunters with the cup....kills most mundanes....which is why the Clave won't use it.
