Hierophant: Blessing in Disguise

Hello my friends! Thank you for joining me for another Tarot post as we march closer to the Kickstarter launch. I'm excited and nervous about the first of October. Hope you are too!

So first the obvious question... What is a Hierophant? It can mean...

Essentially if pulled in the upright position, it can stand for tradition, marriage, wisdom, or other scholarly pursuits. On the other hand, if the card is reversed, it may stand for rebellion, a lack of commitment, or a free spirit.

I sort of struck somewhere in the middle with this depiction!

More incredibly though, this project is International! Oh you didn't know? The stunning Jordan Mutch is from Canada! He flew down here just to be in the series.

Best and I really enjoyed his company as well, and went out to eat after the session. We were all pretty hungry after making some art together! Curious about where we ate? I highly recommend checking out Glai Baan!

Aren't we adorable here? Awwwh! In the traditional photos of the Hierophant, the "Priest" type figure is often seen with disciples at the bottom frame of the card (or adoring fans, who knows).

We tried to set up something similar, but only had Best available for the shot.

That's ok! I'm sure these balding twins don't mind:

Have to give Best huge credit here, because not only did he help assist, he was always willing to help lend a hand (or his entire body) to make the card work. So if you see a floating hand holding a sword, or something similar, it's probably him.

Setting up the shot took some work, but we eventually nailed what we wanted, as you can see from the debut card at the header of this post! I think it really pops. :) Mutch love!

And Jordan was an absolute delight!

I'd work with him again in a heartbeat.

Maybe I'll finally visit Canada one of these days? One can dream. It's on my bucket list...which is substantially long.

I'll end the post with the card one last time (as I've been doing lately) so you can kind of see how everything came full circle! Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you look forward to.... *checks calendar* The Lovers tomorrow!

Remember them? That felt like ages ago! Hahaha

Honestly finding the right color for the border took me the longest time.

I also decided I like a small shadow defining the letters... so I might need to update the other cards. If it's too much work, I'll definitely reverse it. What do you think?

Love, Heart, and Art,

Brandon

P.S. I'm completely revamping my life and making some huge changes. I'm a little sleepy/sluggish today because I woke up at 8am. That's right, I'm trying to be a MORNING PERSON. O_O

You're right, Jordan is stunning - but the artwork is stunninger.

Glad to see you're no longer a vampire. LOL. It takes time to adjust to living at different times. This is one of my favorites. I think the colors and shading are perfect for this card. The borders are there as accents but dont overpower the subjects.

Welcome to the morning world, it's not fun, but this was beautiful

Same, but I was having a hard time making the letters stand out with this one, no matter the color. The challenge is I made myself a color system that is meant to make things consistent, but I ran into my first obstacle haha. I'll figure it out

Love the shock of red and how you accentuated Jordan’s incredible jawline. Will admit I usually loathe a drop shadow, however, it is subtle and serves a purpose here for adding an additional layer.

Hierophant is one of those words where I keep looking at it and saying to myself "Did I spell that right??"
