So I had a crazy idea last night.
When I was going through Josh and David's photoshoot, I remembered I did a couple poses with the idea that I may add someone in later as the Angel.
Why? In other depictions, The Lovers card typically shows a naked man and woman standing beneath the angel, Raphael, whose name means ‘God heals’ and represents both physical and emotional healing.

If you've been following me for awhile, you know I've been on my own journey of healing. I lost a lot of people I care about. We've all been impacted by this pandemic.
So I thought it would be kind of powerful and metaphorical if I was the Angel.
It's not that the original version I did was bad... it just lacked... something?

In its purest form, the Lovers card represents conscious connections and meaningful relationships. The arrival of this card in a Tarot reading shows that you have a beautiful, soul-honouring connection with a loved one. You may believe you have found your soul mate or life partner, and the sexual energy between you both goes way beyond instant gratification and lust.

At its heart, the Lovers is about choice. The choice about who you want to be in this lifetime, how you connect with others and on what level, and about what you will and won’t stand for.

But did they really fit the vibe of a Tarot Card? Specifically "The Lovers"...?
My brain said no, it needed more.

So I started to plan...

I knew it could potentially fail, but I wanted to try anyway. A red angel maybe?
As I painted, things slowly fell into place. But what you didn't see is all the wigs, crowns, and various other things I tried on to find something that WORKED.
Not only that, my timer on my camera wasn't working, so I had to prop up my phone on a ladder. That was...interesting. Here is an awkward progress shot I took:

Eventually I got the shot that I wanted, and the card was put together. I incorporated rain and clouds, stars and sparkles, and various other bits to make the ambiance stand out.
I used a Dress I designed for Christina at Dillard's to fashion a mysterious hood.... found the right pose, and the picture came to life. And thus, The Lover's Card was born!
I hope you enjoyed the late night effort! I'm so tired. Off to bed now!

Love,
Brandon "Angel" McGill
