Nine of Wands - Legendary Determination

Hello friends! Welcome to another edition of "The Magician's Tarot". This time we're exploring the legendary determination that is the Nine of Wands. Testing your strength, your faith, and your resilience to handle anything. And I do mean ANYTHING, this card is about facing adversity, and overcoming (frankly) difficult odds.

Are you feeling battered and bruised, but so close to the finish line? I see you! This card, featuring Charli Vark, acknowledges that difficult journey. But more importantly, it's a card that reminds you to keep fighting.

Some may try to make it difficult, while others may even project their insecurities, but this card asks you to stand tall. To shake off what holds you back. I know Charli has faced a lot of body shaming, yet that doesn't distract her from going to Law school and becoming a Lawyer!

That's because the Nine of Wands, despite it being a difficult card, is also about change makers. And her involvement in politics, and changing the system for the better, makes her the perfect choice for this card.

The body painting features 8 different wands painted on her chest, while she holds the 9th. She is injured, tears of rainbows running down her face, but she still marches forward. The future is within her grasp!

Let's discuss the original debut (I only ever shared one photo unfortunately), versus the card reveal today. I think it was one of those things where I just REALLY liked the first edit. That said, I wanted to make some small changes.

For the final card edit, I started with some minor adjustments to the original. I also flipped the pose, if you've noticed! I felt like it was important to have the wand on the right side, to show the strength of her progression.

I cleaned up elements of her dress, improved the particle FX, added stars and clouds, and pulled it all together. It took me longer than I expected to do all of these edits, but I think it was worth it.
