Welcome to another installment of Masters of the Elements! A fascinating journey through the Cosmos where we explore the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Space, Spirit, Dark, Light, and Time. Today we're featuring Dorian Hendricks, on the topic of DARKNESS! Ready for some epic photos?

For this painting, Dorian wanted to explore darkness in the form of tentacles. Some of them are grasping on their heart, as if holding them back. Others range from the purposeful to the chaotic, but they all represent the surprising nature of darkness.

More importantly, I wanted to represent the road to finding your own light. Even when we feel like it's been extinguished by so many hardships in life.

When we're gripped by fear, the darkness can certainly feel overwhelming. Grief, heartbreak, and trauma may take root... but what happens when you break free?

If we're lucky, we find our joy again! And in the dark, we become our own lights. Much like how the Angler Fish illuminates it's own path.

Just remember that without the darkness, one cannot truly appreciate the light.

So if you're feeling the heaviness of darkness, know that I believe in you, and the light you hold inside. Thought there is a certain beauty to the twilight, we always welcome the dawn of a new day. That's why, as hard as life is, I hope my art brings you a splash of light in the night.
