Behind The Spotlight Chapter 22

"Hm, you sure you don't want to consult a lawyer first? I just want you to make sure." Collin was surprised by the immediate choice that Lawrence made. He thought the actor would contact a lawyer first. But then again, consulting a lawyer might cost some money.

"I decided to trust you." Lawrence smiled.

"Besides, I thought that I might leave Hollywood this year if I failed to achieve even a small success in my acting career. Signing this contract is my means of showing perseverance and determination to achieve my dream."

"You and I will make sure that you will achieve your dream."

"Thanks."

Lawrence nodded. He was still unsure about this decision but he decided to trust his guts. This was the first time an agent decided to contact him and form a partnership. That alone made him a bit happy. At least there was a person who saw something in him and decided to help him achieve his dream. He was happy.

He knew so many aspiring actors and actresses who hoped that some agent would scout them and sign a deal with them. Yet only a few selected actors and actresses had the chance to experience that.

Furthermore, he knew that he had to sign the contract or else he wouldn't get a lead role. He might regret it if he didn't take this opportunity. As for the possible traps and loopholes of the contract... He decided to believe that Hollywood was not that corrupt to destroy his life, right?

Well, Hollywood was so corrupt that it destroyed so many lives.

Fortunately for Lawrence, Collin was a good person who didn't have any intention of participating in the disgusting side of Hollywood. Lawrence got lucky.

In fact, a few months from now, Lawrence would realize that signing a contract with Collin was the best decision he made in his entire life. It turned his life around, for the better.

Lawrence signed the contract and shook hands with Collin.

"We will work hard for a better future." Collin sighed in relief. He thought recruiting Lawrence would take some time, he didn't expect it to take just a day.

Anyway, he was happy with this deal... Especially when the contract stated a 15% commission. Some clients negotiated to lower the commission rate to 10%, but Lawrence was different. So yeah, a great deal for Collin.

'If Lawrence reached stardom, which is a good thing, we might have to renegotiate the contract and lower the commission rate but that's for the future.' Collin thought.

"For the better future," Lawrence repeated.

......

...

The wedding ceremony was in full swing. A large old church was filled with flowers and people dressed in their finest attire. The Father stood before the altar, solemn and serious. He was delivering a heartfelt sermon about love, devotion, and sacred union.

"Marriage… is not merely a contract. It is a covenant. A divine union of two souls, bound not only in law but in the eyes of God..." The Father stated.

The camera cut to Jess(Lawrence) and his male co-star, Sam(Axel). The two were seated in the front row, dressed in tuxedos. Sam was keeping himself alive... He was drunk the whole ceremony.

Jess, on the other hand, was shifting uncomfortably in his seat. His face contorted slightly.

"For love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast..." The Father solemnly said.

Suddenly, an earth-shattering FART erupted from Jess. A long, loud, unapologetic blast that echoed like thunder across the marble walls of the church.

PPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT!

Silence. Everyone froze. The bride gasped. A child dropped her juice box.

The Father almost dropped the scripture in his hands.

Jess(Lawrence) stared ahead, trying to act nonchalantly, but his wide teary eyes were speaking differently.

Sam(Axel) slowly turned to him. He was mortified.

"You didn’t," Sam muttered.

"I thought it would be silent... and... polite."

Cut to the groom’s grandmother fainting. The groom was trying to hold back his laughter. Honestly, he had no idea who these two were but they were entertaining.

The musicians stopped playing their instruments. Someone coughed loudly just to break the silence.

The Father blinked before returning to his preaching.

"As I was saying... love is also... forgiving."

Sam facepalmed. Jess slowly lowered his shoulders, trying to disappear as giggles rippled through the church.

"I had garlic knots for breakfast," Jess explained.

"You had a death wish for breakfast."

Cue the church bells rang awkwardly as the scene faded out with the camera pulling up toward the ceiling.

"Okay cut--!"
