24 - Vision

[X3 - M. Morlak]

Jean had told us that the Scientists Guild had 3 X's, they were X1, X2 and X3. They were the three heads of the Guild, but they met only a few times a year so they could exchange very important information that could not be passed over the phone or to be able to perform some tests that would need the knowledge of another of the Xs.

In a fraction of a second, my brain reasoned this information, my vision passed through a child's body lying on a stretcher behind the man while some strange liquid dissolved her face. Seeing this made a rage sprout inside me and the only thing I wanted to do at that moment sincerely was to kill this monster who was experimenting with her. If what he said was correct, this had already been the 56th child he had performed chemical tests and had not yet resisted. That meant at least 56 child deaths under his hands. At some point, my anger grew so much that a familiar feeling returned to my face.

That feeling... it was like my face was close to the fire... very close. But as strange as that may seem, it wasn't at all painful. It was as if the heat was a part of me, like the heat I felt when I was bathing in sunlight. My vision began to turn red and a strange energy seemed to be beginning to overflow from my eyes.

Apparently, Morlak looked into my eyes and noticed something was wrong. By the reaction he had of astonishment and a small pass behind, I believe that he began to be frightened by my state.

"What the fuck did you guys come here for?" He said as he took his hands to some of the glass jars stuck in his waist.

"Collect the garbage." I said in a voice as cold as ice as I felt my vision becoming hotter and hotter.

At first I wanted to look at Remy and ask what was going on, but before I could take my eyes off Morlak, I felt that the energy that was overflowing from my eyes began to come out like a powerful torrent and push Morlak back, burning the coat he was wearing and leaving the three of us amazed at what was happening.

Unfortunately the energy that was coming out of my eyes was still not powerful enough to burn Morlak's thick skin, but Remy didn't waste that time and threw a few cards while Morlak was still stabilizing by the sudden energy he was attacked, causing Remy's cards to pass through my vision and explode into him before he could do anything about it.

Seeing Morlak being thrown, my vision began to return to normal until the noise of broken glass was heard.

A cloud of smoke formed where he had been thrown, but my improved ears weren't just for knowing that there were several people coming down the stairs, I could also hear his footsteps and breathing inside the cloud of smoke.

At this point our training with Remy throwing me letters proved very useful.

Without a second thought I ran into the cloud of smoke and punched the place where I supposed Morlak's belly was.

When I felt my hand connecting to his belly, Morlak spat blood instantly and was thrown several meters into the wall as he forced himself to try to breathe.

Seeing him in this state on the floor, my anger subsided a little, but seeing the child with his deformed face lying dead on the table, my first thought was to go to him and do the same thing with that ugly face of his.

When I was about to go to him and avenge this child, Remy put a hand on my shoulder and shook his head negatively.

"He killed over 50 children..." I said in anger.

"I know, bro. But if we kill him, we're no different from him." Remy answered.

"So what? Let's let him get arrested and live well in the chair?" I asked with my vision turning red again.

"Who says he needs to be arrested with all the parts?" Remy answered with a sinister smile.

Hearing this I became curious and my vision was back to normal.

Remy let go of my shoulder and walked towards the Morlak who was still struggling to breathe on the floor and took some of the glass jars from his waist and observed the shapes of the jars.

Seeing that next to the child there was still a bottle with a circular shape, Remy took a bottle with this shape full of a green liquid and simply carried it with his own energy and threw it at Morlak.

When Morlak saw the vial coming towards him, despair took over the man who was still struggling to breathe. But before he could do anything the bottle exploded with Remy's energy and poured the green liquid all over Morlak's body making him scream in agony and despair as we watched his skin and muscles begin to melt.

Seeing it happen in front of me I knew I wasn't doing the 100% right thing to do, but a little feeling inside me told me I was doing the right thing. That monster had already killed over 50 innocent children and who knows how many more he would kill if we didn't come to stop him.

While I was getting lost in my stupor thoughts, a loud noise woke me up from my stupor and brought me into battle position again, alerting Remy who also did the same while ignoring Morlak's screams on the ground.

Looking at the door we had broken in, we saw at least 10 armed men coming down towards us. With my present strength, bullets could no longer cause me fatal injuries, but they still hurt too much for me to be willingly hit by them.

That battle would be more complicated than the battle against Morlak...
