wow, that's very cool, hadn't heard of that before - would need some careful positioning, but VERY nasty if you get it right!

Sorry, It’s a Custodes captain general trait.

Prevent heroic interventions by declaring a charge against both the enemy unit and the character, only putting one model into ER of the character but closer to the non- character unit. Then when your unit piles in, it piles into the enemy unit (closest model), moving out of engagement range of the enemy character, which means that character can no longer activate and cannot heroically intervene as it is in engagement range of your unit at the end of the charge phase. Also works to deny space wolves heroic interventions.

A captain for who? Not generic space marines

There's also the soaring spite fangmaster. You give him the skystrider WLT (Soaring Spite) so he can drop out of a transport even after he has moved, charge, make at least 6 attacks at s5 ap-3 d2 (d3 if you pop murderous entrance), rerolling all failed wounds and doing 2 mortal wounds after you fight, and then use skystride to hop back into the transport for your consolidation move before your opponent can hit you.

@Joe Green what trait is that from?

Great tips once again for those newbies like me! Are there any specific tricks for me to remember with space wolves? Ie TWC and jumppack marines? Thank you!

The “unstoppable destroyer” captain commander trait allows the bearer to pile in and consolidate d3+3”, and the consolidate move “does not have to end the move closer to the nearest enemy model”. Which means that shield captain on bike can consolidate out of combat, leaving the unit he just charged with nothing to swing at if he gets better than a 2 on that d3. And by not having fallen back, he can charge back in or heroically intervene the next phase.
