Hellblasters in 9th

I play against an Ultramarine player who usually has a squad of 10 Assault HB running up the board with Guilliman support, and it is absolutely lethal. My best bet to beat him is often use terrain and mobility to try and move around and stay out of their LoS. Otherwise, they just blow me off the board. I am a fan of these guys, and hope they get more love.

How do heavy intercessors with the executor rifle stack up against hellblasters for back of the board objective fire support?

I like heavy hellblasters for camping on the backfield and shooting important things. Never amazing, but usually effective. The problem I think is people prioritize them so they don't get a chance to shoot more than a round or two.

I say, that was a jolly good analysis! I've found a large blob of assault hellblasters to be a most truly excellent "carnifex distraction" with genuine teeth to boot.

I'm probably going to try out Assault Helblasters in my next game vs DG. I'm always very disappointed by the performance of the standard ones and against DR they are kind of pointless.

I am really torn between Assault and Heavy. Even after all the wisdom and Mathhammer I still really hanker for a squad of 10 Dark Angel Hellblasters that can reach out with 4 damage each (WOTDA Strat) at 36". It's one of those Units that gives the opponent 'pause' and forced to make one of those ... "do i do something about the Heavy Hellblasters or do i ignore them?" decisons.

Thank you for this review. I have loved plasma weapons ever since I started playing Space Wolves in 3rd. With the Hellblasters, I never knew which plasma to take. This clears it up for me!
