Let's talk silly errors and facepalm moments...
At a team event, my team mates opponent heroiced Trajan into belakor… let’s say it didn’t go how he thought it would’ve

I'd say that you should have that conversation with your opponent before you start. I've found though that most people will agree that LoS needs to see at least somewhere between 1/4-1/2 of the base of the intended target. For vehicles, I don't agree with LoS that threads the needle to hit the target. If we're really fighting about LoS stuff like this at a tourney, I show absolutely no mercy on the rules and make a really hard lesson for them.

I had to re-check with the core rules about LoS, as we usually don't allow things like a gun sticking out to count as visible, we use chassis of large vehicles and bases for smaller models. But then again, we only play in a small closed group.

Personally, it took me so many games to finally stop doing super stupid moves all the time. lol!
But I did definitely hit a point where all of a sudden I started making good tactical decisions. Can be hard though!

For most of these, I almost always let my friends go back and fix them within reason X'3

I don't do many of these anymore, but have done some within my years of gaming. I have stopped many others from making the same errors though as I'd rather lose than win due to 'gotcha moments'. I am also something of a mentor at my LGS. :)

As a new 40k player, 7 rounds so far in my career, I think my dumbest mistake is trusting others to guide you in the right direction in a tactical war game. Next would be simply not understanding the game and the fine details. After playing several rounds I feel my skills are becoming honed. I definitely agree with the tactical mistakes in the video and can definitely atest to doing some of those myself already.

The mistake I found myself making the most is charging a unit that was providing look out sir to a character and then stranding the character. I did this several times with Skorpekh Destroyers and a Technomancer. Then next turn the Technomancer would get shot up. Took me a few games to stop doing that move.

Its only been a few months and more than I can to admit. The line of sight hits the hardest. First game I ever played I had a tactical squad I was convinced was hidden first turn. Two units got to draw a line on it chewing it to pieces and then I failed morale. Big roughy for a first game
