Deployment in Warhammer 40K - Tips and Tricks

Let's discuss a few ideas for getting the most out of game setup in Warhammer 40K

A question I've always had is 'How important is staying in cover during deployment?' I had a game where I exposed some cheap flayed one infiltrators in the hope I'd win priority and win out with the Canoptek Court power matrix active. Is this a foolish start?

ok I'm really tired and read the title as "Employment in Warhammer 40k"

I think a lot of what’s helped me improve deployment lately is building army lists with intent - previously I’d just run whatever seemed cool, but now when I’m listbuilding I’m thinking about what will hold the midfield, stay home etc - so deployment becomes easier because I’ve already got a standard plan for what units will do most of the time.

Playing my second game tonight, taking on a tank heavy Imperial Guard army with my Death Guard in a 1k matchup. This video has helped me rethink a few things, especially as I only really have Blight Haulers for anti-tank and maybe a Land Raider if it arrives from eBay in time! Thanks again, really useful. 👍

Faced an old friend of mine with my new and shiny guard list. He had a tau list so I was anticipating a couple very bloody shooting phases coming up but he had a bit of a rough list (it was thematic to him but it still wasn’t a very good list) involving Longstrike, a bunch of Kroot, and a Tau’nar. Due to his bad deployment and me getting turn 1, I smoked Longstrike and boxed out the Tau’nar. He had zero effective anti-tank against my three russes and 1 Dorn. It didn’t end too well for his poor chicken boys

I appreciate when you make videos like this. These are the little things that I find stressful about playing in a competitive setting and you do a great job making them feel approachable.

Keep up the great work. You’re one of my best 40K coaches!
