Frankly, the "you should have known by now" comments are a bit impatient. It's easy to see all the foreshadowing when you already know who he is, but otherwise it's fairly hidden.

So he can accurately recreate any weapon he's ever seen, including Noble Phantasms. Also a reality marble is essentially the users internal world manifested on the outside, and is a spell only usable by those who internal world view is drastically different from the norm. Gil calls him a Faker cause he knows the weapons Archer uses are replicas, fakes.
