Witch on the Holy Night Trailer Reaction!

I started this page almost 2 months ago and this is the 100th post! A PEAK TRAILER FOR A PEAK ANIME

Comments

There are a couple more scenes of magic circuits. The anime showed Rin's circuit activating when she ran e.g. chasing Shirou at school or chased by Lancer in the first episode. It's the green pattern showing up on her legs. Illya's case is slightly different (cuz she is a Homunculus with most of her body parts made up of circuits), the anime showed her red circuits all over her body when she attempted to connect with Berserker. Both of them are very much identical to the original design.

Ahh yess you're right. I just associated it with Shirou cuz I think that's the only time we've seen magic circuits?

CrypticBoss

It maybe in the works as soon the first episode goes well. All I know that the movie that will come out someday will be maybe 2 or 3 but possibly 2 hours.

If I recall correctly, the magic circuits, whilst being more fancy in the Ufotable productions for Fate, generally look very similar to the original design. Shirou's circuits took the classic green straight wedgy lines in the novel at least. However, when fully on, the circuit is yellow rather than green. On the other hand, Aoko's circuit looks more complex in the novel than in the trailer, (Mahoyo's visual is just stunning) but this is from memory so not 100% sure.

Just a lore note here, but I'm pretty sure the "trace" things you see on her arm are Magic Circuits - basically the thing that they have lets them channel magical energy. You'll mainly have seen them from Shirou when he's using Projection - that is, the type of Magecraft that lets him create things from thin air - but you'll also notice that Rin has similar when she's fighting Caster in the church. In her case it's lines/circuit patterns running along her limbs to represent that she's using Reinforcement, which is a way of making herself stronger/more resilient. That, FYI, is why she was able to kick the shit out of Caster until Kuzuki stopped her, because generally even weak/non-melee Servants are meant to be much stronger than the average human. Tbh, I can't actually remember whether it's just a Ufotable stylistic choice to show the circuits like that in their anime adaptations, or if that's drawn from any of the original works. Someone else would need to chime in on that. (Also, the big magic circle she calls up isn't necessarily anything to do with summoning Servants - magic circles are a thing across various different parts of Nasuverse magic/magecraft.)

Mahoutsukai no Yoru aka Witch on the Holy Night was originally a novel written by Nasu in 1996 but was never officially published, and only 5 copies were ever printed. The MC of it Aoko Aozaki would later appear as a side character in their Visual Novel Tsukihime in 2000, and Aoko's sister Touko shows up as a side character in a few Nasuverse things specifically The Garden of Sinners (A novel series which has eight movies by ufotable). Witch on the Holy Night would eventually get made into a Visual Novel in 2012, and it recently came to the west in 2022 on PS4, and last month in December on Steam. It's set in the 1980's and follows Aoko as she is chosen to become the successor to her families magic as opposed to her elder sister. The anime is a movie and will likely be at least 2 movies though we dont know for sure.

I wonder how long they'll take to release the second one

CrypticBoss

This movie is seems to be only covering the first half of the game entirely it seems. The 2nd movie will be a blast to see with my own eye's once it airs.

Ah interesting. Then is a perfect fit for me to understand more about the mage craft systems. Can't wait till its out!!!

CrypticBoss

This is not Fate but in the same universe, i.e. Nasuverse, written by the same guy. It focuses more on mage fights, magic, magecraft systems, mystic eyes etc. Mahoyo was actually written before F/SN, but the visual novel only came out in 2011 (It's on Steam now, peak btw). It laid the foundation work of the basic magecraft system which was explored more in Fate, Kara no Kyoukai etc. The heroine Aozaki Aoko is one of the major four heroines of Type-Moon along with Saber.
