matthew bremmer

W information as always. You guys make my experience even more fun so thank u!!

CrypticBoss

Ahh no wonder why everyone was super excited for me to watch F/Z. Having an accurate adaptation is always a banger

CrypticBoss

Lessgoo, F/Z's literally peak, it's also has the best adaptation in all Fate series so you won't regret it for sure

Uoo.

Ayo Fate/Zero Hype! Time for all the Lore. Below are some clarifications for things that might not have been clear. Kariya is not Rin's mom's brother, they are just childhood best friends, so Rin calls him uncle as a term of endearment but they are not related at all. The Makiri family is the Matou family, they changed their name over the years to better fit in Japan, but they were originally a mage family from Russia. I don't think this is ever explained outside the VN and Novel. The El-Melloi in Case Files and Strange Fake is the Successor to the current one in Zero. Also Kirei summoned the Assassin off screen, it's not the same Assassin as in Heaven's Feel but he is connected to him. They were both leaders of the Order of Assassins in the Middle East, and all the leaders of that order took on the name of the founder Hasan-i Sabbah. So this Assassin and the one from Heaven's Feel have the same name, and dress similarly but were different people.

Ahh I see. I'll keep this in mind if I notice stuff. I always point out things as soon as I see them or think about them so I'll definitely compare and give my opinions but I don't see the point of arguments over this since the authors are different. Thanks!

CrypticBoss

Great reaction! I am glad you decided to keep watching Fate stuff. Now given that you have started F/Z, I feel obliged to point to one of the biggest disputes in the Fate community, in case it pops up in your comment section later on. In short, F/Z is a prequel to F/SN written by a different guy. Gen Urobuchi, who is very close to Nasu Kinoko who wrote F/SN, was asked by Nasu to write the prequel. Therefore, various characters (namely Saber and Gilgamesh) may appear somewhat different to F/SN. If later you notice the difference it's because of precisely this. However, this difference between F/Z and F/SN became a hot topic and causes arguments even today. This is recognised by the Type-Moon staff and F/Z is classified as a "somewhat subtly different parallel world" So the message is, if you find the characters consistent, that's all great. If you find them to be off from each other, that's because the author is not the same. If there are disputes in the comment section please feel free to ignore them and keep to your own understanding of the characters.

Clark Huang

Yes pretty much. It's him and his students, which include Rin and Luvia from UBW and a bunch of others. They would also appear in Fate/Strange Fake later on.

Great info! Also was I correct about that specific kid being the main protagonist in the case files anime? You can choose not to answer if it's a spoiler ofc

El-Melloi is a mage family line. They are a faction containing a bunch of different branching families. The head of the family gains the title El-Melloi. They are also a Lord family(there are 12 lords in the Clock Tower, each one are the head of a department). Thus the head is commonly called "Lord El-Melloi". The show Case Files goes into more in detail about all the mage family lore and magecraft.
