The MC is deaf, he is the crown prince of the Kingdom but people don't think he can be a good king when he grows up because of his disability. The black thing is Kage, he is from a race of shadow people that used to be feared as assassins since they can blend into the shadows but are now ostracized and hated. Despite its cute artstyle the story does get very dark at times. It is animated by Studio WIT who did AOT, Vinland Saga, Spy Family etc... Oh also the first OP Boy is by King Gnu the same artists who did the most recent JJK OP SPECIALZ.
