2024-10-24 00:10:16 +0000 UTCThe war in the beginning is heavily implied to be the Vietnam war, the imagery here matches and in the game its said it was a proxy war in Asia in the 1970's, Vietnam is really the only thing that fits. Twice's original servant was Caster Tamamo no Mae, you can see her silhouette behind him in one shot, she is also one of the three servants you can pick in the Fate/Extra game. Twice is like the Anti-Kiritsugu, Twice a man in a white coat, orphaned from tragedy he devotes his life to saving lives not through violence but through medicine, but in the end fails to save a lone child in a fire and dies, and ends up cursing the way he lived and decided war actually does make humanity better and is the only thing that can continue human progress. Compare that to Kiritsugu, a man in a black coat, orphaned by tragedy devotes his life to saving people though violence and in the end is able to save a sole child in a fire and continue living until he dies in peace accepting his life. Introducing you to the greatness of Nero means the anime was a success as far as I'm concerned. So this Rin is not the Rin of Stay Night, she is a member of a Tohsaka branch family that was created when Tokiomi (UBW Rin's dad) had illegitimate child on his trips overseas. Her exact relationship to UBW Rin is unknown although based on math with how old she is and how old Stay Night Rin would be when Fate /Extra takes place (2030) its likely she is Rin niece from a third Tohsaka sibling. As to why her name is Rin, well Nasu likes to fuck with us. Her nationality is unknown but because of her blonde hair its likely that she is 1/4 Japanese and 3/4 some other European nationality. Also as another stated black haired version is just her avatar with the blonde version being how she actually looks. Funilly enough cause Extra came first when Eresh was first shown people thought she was reference to Extra Rin, so opposite of you lol
