2017-12-12 06:46:57 +0000 UTCYeah i think the same, the increased amount creaters will recieve after this change, is just not worth for the anoying method they will put over the supporters. And also, i agree on sending feedback to patreon, to stop with this change.

2017-12-08 12:32:10 +0000 UTCPlus it hinders new patrons in the future to support this.

2017-12-08 12:21:21 +0000 UTCYeah, that i don't get, its cool that they are thinking of us creator to what they say, make this platform more stable for us, but at the cost of the pledgers, its a bit questionable idea. And yeah, there are already creators that are loosing a bunch of patrons already, and the changes haven't even started yet.

2017-12-08 12:19:20 +0000 UTCFunny how they say this will help in the long run, but i can't still not see this future they are promising. Also, i like this platform, and it would be a real shame if the changes get implemented, i think i would have to look for alternatives there.

2017-12-08 12:15:18 +0000 UTCFrom what they say, it's to create a more stable enviroment for the creator (the fee doesn't fluctuate each month) and make the creator earn a little bit more. But really, at the cost of the supporters who are kind enough to support in the firt place ? i think patreon just had it backwards. I much rather take the fees myself like, like the current system, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 12:12:19 +0000 UTCit will hit creators mostly, i mean people can just unpledge a lot of creators if they feel unhappy, and i can imagine lot of creators to look for money elswhere and change patreon from full time jewb into a additional part time free time jewb and look for something else

2017-12-08 11:53:23 +0000 UTCPrices increase -> people pay less or people unsubscribe to compensate -> content creators earn less or about the same -> patreon fat-cats earn more. That's basically my understanding, anyway. I think it's bad for both creators and patrons, really seems to only benefit patreon in the end. The roughly 11% increase of the "per-dollar" payment for creators (85%-95%) isn't probably going to outweigh the amount of people who leave or pay less (and it would be MUCH more than paying 11% less, such as 5 dollars down to 1 dollar). Most people I've seen who list their amount of each tier of patrons USUALLY have the most of their patrons in the lower tiers, so a lot of people could either see them leave in troves or people switching from say 2 or 3 dollars to 1 dollar instead. Regardless, I doubt anyone wants to be paying extra in fees even if they can afford it, especially when the only reason they're being added is to (almost guaranteed) increase profits for patreon alone. I'd recommend everyone to do their part to give their feedback on this topic to patreon personally.

2017-12-08 05:36:49 +0000 UTCIt's nice that the Patreon's get more out of the pledges, but at the same time, some people will lose interest in the increased charges as a result, many Patreon's will just lose patrons, which is kinda oxymoronic as the end result is that the Patreon's have a higher chance of losing more patrons and in result money, compared to getting 85% of the total amount

2017-12-08 05:17:14 +0000 UTCNot going to lie, these changes make me apprehensive of my pledges from this point. I think this is going to hurt Patreon in the long run, but particularly the patrons, as T.Chan pointed out earlier. Regardless of the price hikes, there are still a few creators that I will support regardless. I'm still going to be supporting you, Bard. You've been one of my favorite artists for a long time, and this won't change that. At the same time, looking into alternative donation methods would not be a bad idea.

2017-12-08 05:13:11 +0000 UTCWas the purpose of this for creators to get more money out of the pledges after Patreon charges or whatever? Still a bit confused as to why the price hike, but like someone here said it's a kick in the nuts for dollar pledges :p Fortunately for me though, I've been keeping my number pledges low in case extra charges like these appear, I only pledge to a few artists who are my absolute favourites (That's you Bard ;))

2017-12-08 04:18:52 +0000 UTCeven migrate to other platforms seem like a viable option right now
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 02:55:26 +0000 UTCOh yeah, look into paypal.me and set up a link for people to donate that way. Better than nothing.
2017-12-08 02:48:29 +0000 UTCIm not paying that fee If artists are willing Ill pledge to them via their paypal, gumroad subscription, kickstarter etc. Ill just use another way to become a 'patron'
HEARTZMD
2017-12-08 02:40:36 +0000 UTCYeah, patreon just want to punish those kind enought to support in the first place. And yeah, see,s like a distraction from that other important controversy
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 02:27:17 +0000 UTCI understand the whole fee thing but i feel that this will effect the pledges from future members and current members might cut back on some creators or Patreon entirely. I also feel it's connected to Net Neutrality since the vote is like literally a week away in all.
J-Surge
2017-12-08 02:21:12 +0000 UTCAnd the ones' that will have it harder are the ones that pledge per creation! And this will hurt to all of us since is dicouraging new pledgers to support
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:56:46 +0000 UTCYeah i've heard already of patreons leaving and making strikes to take this down. Also i totally get if there's a reduction on pledgers, i don't want to force anyone to do anything against their will.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:47:21 +0000 UTCYeah this really hurt those who support a large amount of creator.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:44:24 +0000 UTCIt's actually a real sneaky slap to the face. A creator I currently back had thought it wasn't that bad and the people angry were just fearmongering like most things, but after going over things bit by bit it's legit scummy. Patreon is basically still taking money from the creators but is now pushing all the fees on the patrons
T.Chan
2017-12-08 01:44:02 +0000 UTCFrom what i've read, in their perspective they are going with all the good intentions, and i can see that, but really it doesn't look that way, at all.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:41:49 +0000 UTCYeah I imagine people may start unplegding and boycott patreon over this maybe move over to Kickstarters drip service if it's any good I myself am not the biggest fan of the change may have to take a one month break to balance the money for the new fee won't be gone long though need my Bard art
A-T
2017-12-08 01:41:15 +0000 UTCYeah, in a way they are incentivizing to pledge a bigger amount to take less fees in the process. Also, this is a big deal to the most popular pledge as you say, and really if i see a drop in number here, so be it, supportert should prioritize themselves first.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:39:06 +0000 UTCI mean, i get where they are trying to go with this, but still left with a bitter taste.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:35:20 +0000 UTCFirst, thanks a lot if it is that way. Second, from what they say, this will mostly help the content creator to not have much of huge fee each month to deal with. So yeah, this mostly affect those with a tight budget and want to support.
SpicyBardo
2017-12-08 01:34:35 +0000 UTCYeah this feels like a slap in the face for the 1 dollar pledges i only support like 6 people but i might have to drop a couple.
Kyle Cabrera
2017-12-08 01:26:32 +0000 UTCIt's a total fucking bonehead move, both in terms of the actual changes, and the timing of the changes - just after purging a bunch of porn Patreons, and just before Christmas? But yeah, total mistake, and we're all gonna lose a lot of our $1 pledges imo.
2017-12-08 01:03:36 +0000 UTCHate it. It's a price hike of 38% for all $1 pledges (by far the most popular pledge on the entire platform). I support over 3 dozen creators at $1 to $5 levels. This bumps my monthly Patreon bill up over 20%. I'm going to have to cull about 1/4 of the creators I support because of this, to keep my bill the same.

2017-12-08 00:58:31 +0000 UTCfucking disaster tbh.

2017-12-08 00:54:17 +0000 UTCI dont like where this is going, kinda reminds me of net neutrality much? Although if It comes to pass I would still pay because Bard is cool.
