Because the meaning of HD refer to how many pixels an image has in width x height format, not on how many it's internally establish to be printed. I can save the same image in 72 dpi or 600 dpi and it will looks exactly the same, but the one in 72 dpi will be bigger when it get printed than the 600 dpi. The dpi informs the printer how many pixels print per inch, that's all. As much dpi the image is saved, the printed image will be smaller but it will have more details per inch.
