Serving the prince

OK, this sketchy animation has a little story. It was originally a request from Leyi_Chen. It should be The prince of the forest with Bambi but then I realized I drew Bambi like in the end of the second movie (he has little horns but I guess that Patreon could get horrified because he still looks too young) so I thought about keep his body smaller to not redone all the body animation and draw him with a more mature face, but I realized that Patreon will say "no incest", so I ended doing Ronno instead of Bambi.

What do you think about all this situation? I know it's a delicate matter. Maybe I'm too naive on thinking of them just as cartoon animals or it's really important to consider the possible implications?

Yes, the face animation looks crappy but it's like a guide for when I decide to make the clean lines.

I am happy to be useful.

Yes, I guess it will be the best to not get involved in troubles.

Thanks for take your time tell me about your experience, it helped me to put some things on perspective.

I say play it safe; even if "no one cares", there's almost always going to be a troll or a griefer or some other miserable bastard who would report you either way, and get you in trouble. That said, this is pretty sexy!

The inherently, inescapably, and >entirely< subjective nature of the opinion, interpretation, and presumptions of malice or danger, are why this topic will always be contentious. Nobody is correct to assign something like "predatory" to a person when that is entirely an assumption based on assumptions based on opinion. If a person is being predatory, then that's something beyond merely making drawings, and the predatory behavior is obviously valid to denounce. It's also an entirely distinct factor from art alone. This will always be an argument, and it will always be the "violent video games make people violent" or "people who like violent video games are a greater danger of becoming school shooters" arguments. It's feelings and wanting to do something, but drawing a connection that careful evaluation of facts and data always demonstrates as an invalid connection to assert. I won't be responding further, because I simply wanted to offer Anhes an informed viewpoint because he asked. Please don't make this a debate on his post.

The reason many are vocal about it is because their opinion of art involving a character holding the appearance of a child is that the artist and or community are into it due to it being a child therfore marking it as predatory. (Like you said this is more emphasised if the person being vocal has had negative experiences similar) Some other people dont see that and instead see how the artist and or community liked the particular design of the character and it just so happened to be the design of when the character was a child in a film etc. It'll always be like this no matter what. Its not perfect and it's not just people complaining for no reason. The threshold of which a piece goes from one to the other out of the 2 (Predatory or not) depends on one's own opinions and the art/community itself and how they interact with the art. It could be annoying as an artist to have people complain about children when your idea of the piece was the characters' design and not their age. But having people complain can be valid if it's clear that one is being predatory.

I've been one to draw pretty much anything I'm asked to, and I've been open about it in the fandom for over twenty years now. Thousands of drawings for hundreds and hundreds of people, all with their own tastes and stories, have informed my views on these subjects. The significant majority of the fandom has always fallen into the "it's cartoons, we're all weirdos to normies, I don't care" bucket. But obviously, people who just don't think cartoons and make-believe are worth making a fuss about won't be very vocal about it. There are people who, for whatever reasons, will always be very vocal about it. Some are survivors of rl harm, so naturally have an understandable sensitivity. But just as many survivors use fiction or fantasy as a means to cope with their trauma, so it isn't as simple as falling on one side or the other for the sake of individuals with trauma in their pasts. Ultimately, the most relevant point for you here, is Patreon's position. Some people completely disregard rules and just never get noticed. I've seen other accounts in total compliance, but still hit by an overzealous account moderator. It would be nice if people understood that art and expression is not real life, but it seems like we're past those days, and people like to look for things to get worked up about. Whether you're concerned about them or not is up to each individual artist.

Wolfblade

i guess then its just person to person and their preferences. In that case the same for incest, just see who in this pateron group are ok with it through a poll or something and if you feel ok with making the art then go for it. When I was refering to child stuff I meant more of those artists who really push the fact that 'hey guys its a child here', but I can see how people see when an artist goes for the character for their appearance and design rather than their age, therefore people being ok with it.

Kestrel

I'm asking because I saw many many artists that use supposedly child characters on their pics and neither the community nor Patreon has problems with that. Take the sample of SigmaX, he does explicit porn with the Bambi with spots on his back (the most infantile version that appeared on the movie) and no one complains, I'm just confuse about the community parameters. I think most of people don't think on the age of chars in that cases, they just use the image of the character for different situations, they want to see Bambi doing some horny things, and Bambi looks like a big head cartoon deer during almost all the movie, it's not because he is or look young, it's just because he is Bambi.

Anhes

For incest stuff it comes down to if the majority of the members of the patreon and you are ok with that content. As for age stuff that's more no no. The general consensus is that incent isnt as bad as age stuff (at least from what i've seen from the Furry community) as in more of suspicious/concerning due to the severity of having a child involved.

Kestrel

I like your approach towards respecting your fans and critics with the age boundaries taboo, very professionnal. But I do believe that past the age taboo, you did great work whatsoever, as usual! Love the pair, gotta say~
