Lycan traditions are very enveloped in the supposed origins of Maya's three moons: Alma (red), Id (black/white) and Oum (blue). Since Alma is used to measure a year, she is also interpreted as a wise, all seeing force. As she's the oldest and watches and her two siblings from afar, sincr she's the farthest away from the planet. Lycans who are said to he born when she is full (which is once a year on the new year) the said pup will possess a connection to Alma. In ancient times these Alma-born lycans were truthsayers and spiritual leaders.
Oum, the blue moon, whose only full during a seasonal equinox, is associated with tactical skill. To channel oum is to be well disciplined in a craft or tradition. If you were born when Oum was full, you'd be expected to be a prodigy of some sort. Someone who will have massive creativity.
Id, black and white, is associated with the day by day. Usually tools or utensils are given Id's colors because such things are used day by day to continue society onward. Id has 10 full moons a day (to rotate half of the planet, Id takes approx 30 earth hours. 15 of day and 15 of night.) If you were born during one of those full rotations, well... it can mean a lot of things. Since there 10 full Id's a day, they each have different meanings, kind of like a zodiac. I'll get to explaining that when I have more.
Lastly the scythe is a very important tool and symbol for Lycans! Since culturally it represents all 3 qualities of the moons. Alma, the yearly harvest , Oum the discipline it takes to master, Id the daily use. Scythes embody the Lycan Ideal: A wise, crafty participating citizen. During revolutionary times flags with a Lycan holding a Scythe were used to represent working class rights.
