Added 2025-07-25 18:41:45 +0000 UTCOnce I've got the bit between my teeth, I do tend to get a bit carried away with world-building, and that's what's happened this week with the Scuba story.
I originally planned for the Black Team divers to be nameless redshirts who'd appear once each in the opening montage, and then die summarily in the subsequent battle. Then I got a bit attached to them, and started inventing personalities from their posture and facial expressions in the training renders. Then, when I was posing the customer in the pilates gym and trying to work out what to do with his facial expression, I came up with a whole sub-plot where the mercenary boss spots that the customer is a little fixated on one of the mercenaries in particular and exploits that to get him to sign them up for the contract.
That played into a scene where she'd be sat across from him at a desk with a load of personnel profiles scattered across her table, idly pointing to the one he fancied and saying that yes, of course she'd be able to set up a meeting- if the operative was amenable to such a thing of course...
Naturally, there's probably going to be a doomed, pre-battle sex scene and everything.
Now I've spent my spare time for the last day and a half creating back-stories for the girls in the expendable first wave.

Yet another reason why I think a lot of us like your works so much, this attention to detail. There was literally no reason to go and give these girls such detailed stories when half of them probably won't last very long, yet you did. I tend to pick a favourite and follow them through each image as the series progresses, knowing more about them just makes sting all the more when they meet whatever fate the story has for them.
