Springtime is almost here!
I just returned from three weeks away, but of course, your girl kept herself busy busy busy... I was in Los Angeles for a couple of shoots and did some GREAT thrifting (bought an entire suitcase full of clothing AND the suitcase itself for less than $80 USD on my one and only day of relaxation), and then travelled on to Palm Springs where I spent a week in a retirement RV park as the youngest person on site by at least two decades. Why, you're probably asking? Because a portion of my immediate family spends several months each year escaping the winter cold of the Rocky Mountains, and I jumped at the chance to go visit, no matter how many looks I got on site, haha. Unfortunately for them, with this polar vortex weather, it was cold and kind of cloudy... and yet I still managed to get a sunburn (yay, redheads!) before I flew down to The Chive HQ in Austin, TX (as you may know is like my second home and my favourite city in North America). There, I did a shoot for The Chive's St. Paddy's Day collection and just had a day of debauchery with old friends and new. When you give creative control of a business' marketing content and unlimited beer to a bunch of ambitious, funny, and self-deprecating Millennials, the results are very likely to be inventive, ridiculous, hilarious, and probably kinda sexy. It's the most fun I have ever had on a professional shoot, hands down - and I've had a lot of really fun shoots in my day.
After my 30 hours in Austin came to a close (WEEP), I flew off to Vegas to spend time with family. Many casinos, too-early celebrations at slot machines, and sore throat lozenges due to smoke inhalation, I was off to Calgary, Alberta... from cold temperatures to COLD temperatures. Like, actual frostbite. I shot with a bunch of insanely talented individuals, got to play with and expand my knowledge of studio lights by helping photographers set them up to shoot me, and am now just really excited to see the results. Waiting with bated breath!
NOW, though... and I think you're all aware... I've put in a conditional offer on a house. I've done the inspection, I've done my research, I've got resources put aside and a fire under my ass with work... tonight is when we decide whether we will be going ahead with the purchase at a slightly higher price point than we want, or if we will be putting in a counter offer and risking losing the property altogether... *chews fingernails*... This really is the last step. The contract expires at midnight, so I'm really weighing my options at this moment in time... Gah. So much work to do on this house...
So that's the recap on my February! March is going to be a very exciting month for me one way or the other as I begin modeling for a local designer all across Canada in just a couple of weeks to help put aside some extra cash for renovations. If you live in Canada and want to potentially work together at one of the following cities, you've gotta let me know:
Toronto, Ottawa, Red Deer, Regina, Edmonton.
As always, I adore you guys and gals! Here's my wish for you this month: opportunities to come out of hibernation, good friends getting in touch to catch up, and 15 extra minutes of sleep each night. It's almost time to put away the snowboots!!
Thanks for tagging along on this journey and helping me make my dreams come true as an artist. <3
