June got away from me completely. I mean, as I've been saying for months, moving into my first house has been a dream, but has come with some really crazy, life-altering changes in ways I never could've expected. My time is gone. I'm manic depressive, so although I've not been depressed, my mania is still showing up. Thankfully, it's been super helpful because when I begin a project, I *need* to finish it, and I genuinely ENJOY this work, so that's helpful. I live for immediate gratification, haha. That's why our walls are painted, our plans are nearing completion for the main floor, and I'm hunting through bargain bins just so that we can tidy the house up. There's still *such* a mess (though piles are being sorted through bit by bit while we still have no storage solutions to get items up off of the floor), which is near the top of my list of things to remedy... but first, I really want to get my office set up. I'm going to buy some shelving units from IKEA as soon as I can and then snazz them up with some baseboards and crown moulding so that when I have photography clients come over, I can make them feel comfortable in my luxury-looking but affordably-crafted office. SWEAT EQUITY, BABY!
In June, I participated in a couple of REALLY cool events that connected me with photographers from all around the world. The first was at a sleep-away kids camp in Northern Ontario (Haliburton - middle of nowhere) where I was one of the featured models. What an amazing opportunity for me to do EIGHT sets a day, each day, with different photographers! To see myself as other people do through their personal lens is a blessing as a model. I grew and learned so much from those four days and never wanted it to end! I hope to return next year to Camp Do More! If you're a photographer who wants to be inspired and potentially take part in this boudoir growth seminar, consider joining through this website - it's a wealth of information from top industry personnel worldwide. Seriously cool. I've stood amongst those boudoir photography "Gods" and I can tell you... they're every bit as sweet as you'd hope they'd be, and so willing to share their knowledge. I mean... Jessica Rae, Bob Sala, Pratik Naik and SO many other super amazing artists shared their expertise at this year's Camp, and I hear that my dear friend Corwin Prescott and his lovely model wife Nicole Vaunt will be teaching/participating next year... Big things!
As for the wonderful Alvord Desert photo tour with ExplOregon Adventures, I had a blast shooting with some old friends, new friends, and models whose careers I had followed from afar for many years. It was SUCH an honour and pleasure as every single person in the big passenger van travelling around with us was talented, kind and fun! The photos are lovely from what I've received so far, and I'm so excited to share them with you (I have a set being released today, in fact, in the $10 July folder!)
As many (most?) of you know, my camera was stolen while I was in Portland last month, following my time with ExplOregon. There's a whole process but I'm working with insurance and Portland police at this time to get a new camera... I'm heartbroken. I do have all of the photos off of the cards, thankfully, and some GORGEOUS images of Lillias Right, Rose Juniper, Mida Mae, Olivia Preston and Floofie to post in the coming months from my time on the west coast... Keep an eye on the $13 folder for those sets!
I figured you might like a little tour of my house to see the process a little bit, so here's a video I made, exclusively for my Patreon subscribers! (***This is updated - sorry the link was originally broken!***)
